The following are the rules and conditions for participating in the 2024 GameXcellence Awards. By entering and participating, entrants accept these terms and conditions.

Categories

We welcome three types of mediums for game submissions:

Short animated film
  • The category recognizes and celebrates the artistic and narrative talents that contribute to the gaming experience. Animation plays a crucial role in bringing game worlds to life and immersing players in compelling stories.
  • Submissions are expected to be a captivating animation sequence that showcases art and animation skills, and storytelling abilities. Both 2D and 3D animation sequences are accepted. Highlight key moments, characters, and environments within your animation.
Prototype game
  • The category encourages game design and highlights the importance of gameplay mechanics in creating an immersive and enjoyable gaming experience. We aim to support creators in demonstrating their game concepts through practical and interactive prototypes, showcasing their potential for full development.
  • Submissions are expected to be a playable prototype of your game idea, showcasing the essential elements by presenting 1 or 2 levels of gameplay or providing 5 to 10 minutes of engaging and representative gameplay.
Mini-Game
  • This category celebrates the value of concise and well-executed game design. We aim to encourage creators to focus on delivering polished and entertaining gameplay.
  • The submissions are expected to be a complete and functional game, simple but engaging, and demonstrate a clear and concise gameplay loop. It can be any genre.

Awards and prizes

Excellence in Mini-Game
Excellence in Prototype Game
Excellence in Short Animation Film
Excellence Special Award – Student
Excellence Special Award – International

 

The winner of each category listed above, except for the Special Award- International, will be awarded one Game Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP) full-access ticket.

The winners of all categories will be awarded exhibition opportunities at PAX Aus (11-13 October 2024) at the joint GameXcellence and Creative Victoria booth. GameXcellence Awards coordinates with award recipients to organize this.

All categories' winners will be awarded a Game Business and Entrepreneurship short course provided by Edvantage Institute Australia.

Honorable mentions and winners will be notified and officially announced around late September 2024.

*All prizes are not redeemable for cash and are subject to third-party availability. GameXcellence Awards reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value if necessary.
